Server Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Server Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. You will play a pivotal role in designing, deploying, managing, and maintaining our server infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability to meet the ever-growing needs of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage robust and secure server environments (physical and virtual) across various operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux)
  • Configure, install, and maintain a wide range of server applications and services to support mission-critical operations
  • Perform proactive server monitoring to identify potential issues and ensure system uptime and performance
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access
  • Automate routine server tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to improve efficiency and reduce errors
  • Lead and participate in server upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery planning to minimize downtime
  • Provide technical expertise and collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot complex server issues
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest server technologies and industry best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus)
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in server administration with a proven track record of success in enterprise environments
  • In-depth knowledge of server hardware, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS)
  • Solid understanding of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and their administration tools
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for server automation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud server technologies (e.g., AWS EC2, Azure VMs) a plus
  • Certifications in MCSA, RHCSA, or equivalent highly desirable
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) beneficial
  • Experience with server monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus)
